This article marks the birth of Jialat dot Com, though the site has been set up for more than a week!

I had a hard time choosing a domain name for this site. I searched high and low, but I was disappointed that most of the domain name that I wanted, those relevant to my name, ect, were all taken, even my name! One afternoon, I was eating snake (to all of you who is not living in Singapore or Malaysia, “eating snake” in Mandarin means finding free time in office doing all things but works!) and I felt that I should try to search for the domain name again, if not I may never start this blog. So I searched, and searched, and searched. Nothing but disappointment. I was surfing a forum also at that time, and I saw some posts with the writer kept saying “jialat, jialat, jialat”. Basically he felt jialat about anything in life. Jialat actually is Hokkien. It means “difficult”, “hard”, “not easy”. And I kind of agreed some points in his post. I still remember when I was in secondary school, I went for a English tuition. The tutor is an Indian, a former English teacher. We called him Mr Victor. He once told us that life has never been easy. I may have forgotten all those he had taught me, but not this sentence. I am now 28, coming 29, working, surviving in life, and I fully agreed what he said. Life has never been easy, and I think life is always jialat. So I thought, “why don’t I try ‘jialat.com’?”. Actually, jialat is a very common word in Singapore and Malaysia. So I thought it may have been taken long long ago. To my surprise, IT WAS AVAILABLE! (the funny thing was, only jialat.cn was taken, do Chinese PRC understand what “jialat” means?) And I immediately asked my friend to register for me.

Basically, this blog will just be a personal blog, just to share those stuffs that interest me in my life. And I hope, next year this time, I am still writing here and celebrate 1 year anniversary here.

Merry Christmas to all!
