Two New Work Passes for Foreign Workers to be Introduced
I believe this is to encourage more foreigners to come here on short time assignment basis. Will this enforcement bring more complaints from the public? Full time job kena taken away, now short term/ part time assignments also in danger. How is this going to affect the public?

Two new work passes for foreign workers to be introduced
Channel NewsAsia - Saturday, January 26SINGAPORE: From 1 February, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) will no longer issue Professional Visit Passes (PVPs) to foreigners working here on short—term assignments.
Instead, two new passes — the Miscellaneous Work Pass and Work Permit (Performing Artiste) will be introduced by the Ministry of Manpower.
The Miscellaneous Work Pass, which is valid for 60 days, will be given to those involved in activities directly related to an organisation, such as religious workers who are giving talks and foreign journalists.
Foreign artistes performing here will need to apply for the Work Permit (Performing Artiste), which is valid for up to six months.
But foreigners providing highly specialised skills for a short period of time may have the flexibility to enter Singapore and perform certain activities without a Work Pass.
Those exempted from obtaining a Work Pass will need to notify the ministry via its website at www.mom.gov.sg. — CNA/ac
