Jack Neo Said Stephen Chow’s CJ7 Copied His Ideas
Not I anyhow said one OK, it is on OMy now, the interview, you can read it here (in Chinese):
http://www.omy.sg/showbiz/enews/200802/20080219_011_jackneo.html
The 5 points he pointed out to support his claim that <<CJ7>> copied his ideas are:
1. Kid from poor family wore shoes that were worn out. In <<CJ7>>, Stephen had to sew and patch the shoes for his son, while in his <<跑吧! 孩子>>, the shoes the main character wore were also sewn and patched.
1. 穷孩子穿破鞋子:《长江》中的父亲(周星驰)为儿子缝补鞋子,凸显家庭环境贫困;《跑吧!孩子》为突出主角家境,男主角李创锐脚下的鞋子也是缝缝补补;
2. Kid brought result book to hospital. <<I Not Stupid>> got this part also.
2. 拿成绩单到医院:《长江》 中的儿子拿着成绩单到医院找父亲,证明自己能考到好成绩;《小孩不笨》中的主角也是拿着成绩单到医院… …
3. Kid was punished to stand in school. <<跑吧!孩子>> had the same part.
3. 学校罚站:小主角因为鞋子太破旧学校罚站,《跑吧!孩子》中也有罚站镜头;
4. Fatal accident. Stephen Chow died in accident in <<CJ7>>, while <<I Not Stupid>>, the father also died in accident.
4. 父亲出意外:父亲周星驰在《长江七号》因工业意外跌死,《小孩不笨2》中黄奕良也是意外身亡;
5. Alien sacrificed itself to save the owner. In one of his movie <<再见阳光>>, the same idea was used.
5. 外星人(狗)拼死救主:《长江七号》里的”外星狗”为救小主人元气耗尽,智强声言,他有一部电视电影《再见阳光》,也有一个”外星人拯救人类,却牺牲自己”的桥段!
He said all these to defense his new movie, <<Ah Long Pte Ltd>>, since the reviews have been very very bad.
He also said that, he is confident that <<Ah Long Pte Ltd>> can beat <<CJ7>> in turnover locally. And he can proudly claim that he has beaten Stephen Chow when he ventures into China.
I have to apologize that my translation is bad, but I think the meaning is there……
Do you agree with him? I found all those points very lame…

Funny, didn’t alot of people say that his ah long pte ltd copy some korean movie?
dk,
not just ahlong pte ltd loh, most of his works i think.
Jack Neo, like that also can huh?
then lots of movies also copy here, copy there loh??
hanneng,
he just wants to get some publicity bah……
Alright Jack Neo officially sucks now. Let’s give him our farewells to the douchebag club.
jack ain’t got new ideas anymore, maybe caused of writers’ strike?lol
he kinda lost his touch, compared to previous movies
wasn’t 跑吧!孩子 itself a remake?
from the way i read the articles, i think it’s more for marketing purposes. the way he argues is just not convincing enough.
Ya, I agree it’s just for publicity. How many movies have worn shoes in it???
ALL COPY JACK NEO? -_-”
Anyway, AhLong Pte Ltd is like obvious idea copying from Marrying the Mafia/My Wife is a Gangster 3 what…
I thought Mr. Neo had no problems with “copying”.
Oh come on, Jack Neo! His own movie Homerun is a complete rip-off of “Children of Heaven”. See here.
he lagi powerful lar! Use such lame reasonings to support his claim.
If every director thinks like him, soon they will be picking up swords and axes and go around chopping each other.
I mean, how many movies out there ends with the good guys winning? LOL like that oso considered copy la?
Jack Neo’s ego has gotten too big for his own good. He’s come a long way since those comedy nights, but unfortunately lost his humility along the way.
故事纯属虚构。如有雷同,纯属巧合。身为 ‘大导演’ 的梁,竟然连如此基本的常识都没有。
My fren told me that Jack Neo’s 跑吧! 孩子 copied an indian movie called Children of Heaven.
The story plot also very similar..
u can type search Children of Heaven in Wiki..
not sure which one’s 1st, as Wiki is too long to read..
Alvin,
It is an Iranian movie, Children of Heaven. Of cause Children of Heaven came out 1st, I doubt he got such originality.
its not even copy at all lorh pls…the 跑吧!孩子 is totally a chinese version of the indian movie super similar
and the indian version movie is much more better to me..
and it came out much more earlier
Iranian movie! Not Indian!
For that one at least he bought the copywright then remade it.
But for Ah Long, he just copy it and not even said “thank you” to the original korean movie loh.
Dear sir i singaporean chinese male would like to join be a script writer. My hp:xxxxxxxx. I stay at dover area
pan teck ming,
u got it wrong, here is not jack neo’s site.
What so big deal about Jack Neo comment? His movies is all sucks and when got no business, start using this comment here and there to fight back. Come on, nobody will be lucky forever.
Kid from poor family wore shoes that were worn out. In <>, Stephen had to sew and patch the shoes for his son, while in his <>, the shoes the main character wore were also sewn and patched.
hmm what was out first shaolin soccer or i not stupid…Shaolin Soccer so he copied Stephen Chow’s idea of the torn shoes so he better stop bragging because he knows he isn’t as good Stephen Chow
Jack Neos Home run is almost scene by scene copy from CHildren of Heaven. Iranian film, Just cos he knows Iranian pp cannot come here and see. Its so much copy. Also same story about girl losing shoe and got scene where brother chase shoe in longkang. And bro also races to get shoes. Very similar. Dont believe me ok. JACK NEO! ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!

admin… u naive little boy…
since jack neo is a local director SURELY he will have more fans after captivating our hearts with his first few releases of movies which we grew up watching such as I Not Stupid ,I Not Stupid 2, e.g.
Of course it would beat movies such as CJ7 and Kung fu Dunk.I bet that in Taiwan, Kung fu Dunk would be the movie most watched since it is MADE in taiwan so its fanbase WOULD BE FROM Taiwan.
Yes.
