MONBETSU, Hokkaido — A teacher faces disciplinary measures for threatening to force a girl to take off her clothes as punishment for using her mobile phone during his class, local education officials said.
The shocked girl took the following day off after the incident. The municipal board of education is poised to instruct the school to apologize to the victim and her family and thoroughly explain the incident.
The teacher in his 20s at a Monbetsu municipal junior high school found the girl using her mobile phone during his class on Monday, and ordered her to stop it, according to board officials.
“If you don’t stop it, I’ll force you to take off your clothes,” the teacher was quoted as telling her.
The incident surfaced after her family complained to school authorities. The school does not allow students to bring mobile phones to classes.
