There Is a Cheapo Low Class Boss in My Office

I should have written about this few days back, but I was too lazy.

Some background 1st. There are a few managers in my office. This particular one (female, middle aged) is not my direct boss, but manager leading other team of staff handling other responsibilities. And the staff turnover rate pf that team is very very very high. I have been in my company for about 15 months only and I have lost counts of the people who came and left, came and left.

Her team sometimes work rather closely with the one I am in, and both teams need to do shift work. Their night team people are rather close to my team also. Thing about working night shift is, when nothing happens, you are rather relaxed. So, sometimes we watch movies, online streaming, reading, sleep, or play lan game, together with that team.

This poor guy is a fans of Japs anime I guess. When he was free, he would watch anime online. Once, he kena complained, or more accurately, backstabbed by a much senior guy. Complained to his manager, which is that cheapo lady. Not all staffs in the company are permanent staffs, and this guy fell into the contract staffs group whose contracts (managed by a outsourced manpower management company) are renewed yearly. So, after she received the reports from the senior guy, she requested change his contract to monthly renewed, and he will be judged based on his performance. And subsequently, his pay was reduced to some where just above $1500 (not sure got include shift allowance or not). This guy accepted all these, think he was just lazy to go through all the troubles of finding jobs again since he is also taking part time degree course.

And, best thing came last week. The manager asked the guy to stay after his shift of 28th, which is on 29th morning. Then he was told by the manager that she did not want to renew his contract already and do not need to come to work anymore, reason being “he is not contributing to the company”. Also, she claimed that she “managed to fight for 2 weeks pay for this guy”. Yes, 2 weeks, a lots right? This guy must be sooooo grateful to her.

This is such a cheapo way to handle such issue and I feel that this ex-colleague has been treated in a very unfair manner. My colleague has advised him to seek opinions from MOM, see if there is anything can be done or not.
