73 Year-Old AhMah Bought 2 Body Shaping Undergarments at 4K Plus
Was flipping through WanBao, the following news caught my attention:

Basically, it is about a 73 years old lady’s unhappy experience with a certain company. On 30th May, she was brought by 4 of her friends to a company located at Bencoolen Street, in the name of attending a siminar (what kind of seminar? health? making money? family?) She only knew that the seminar is about the body shaping undergarments when she was there. The presenter said that the undergarment is product of Japan (”product of Japan” and “made in Japan” are different…). Other than shaping human’s body, adjusting body postures, it also emits negative ions and helps our blood circulations, and good for slimming. The 4 “friends” encouraged her to try the undergarments on the spot. She felt that it was tight. But due to the 4 friends’ strong “encouragement”, she signed an contract and bought 2 sets of the undergarments at S$4488. She did not have enough cash with have. The friends even drove her back home to take her cheque book. Good friends right?
Back home, she put on 1 of the 2 sets once, and felt that it was too tight. The family members felt the sets were too expensive. 1 of them read through the contract, and found that there is a 30 days money back guarantee, as long as the goods are in original package. So they returned to the company on 23rd June and requested money back for 1 of the sets. They encountered difficulties and it dragged for close to 2 hours. There was fierce arguments. Then they called in police. Finally, they got their money, S$2255, back (I assume S$33 is for admin charge kind of stuff?). When the reporter was there and show the staffs his identity, they staffs there were very unfriendly.
It looks like a MLM case. It sounds like a MLM case. It smells like a MLM case. So I took it as a MLM case. You know, listen to seminar, few persons against 1, mass pursuading, buy products, sign as member, upline downline. You have heard so many of such cases right? Personally, I am not against MLM. I was in MLM few years back, and I roughly understand the process, system. MLM is not bad and in some ways it has benifited many people. It is always the blacksheeps, the people involved that make the industry smelly, make the public hate MLM.
Look at this case, cheated the AhMah right from the start. And what, they pursuaded a 73 years old AhMah to buy BODY SHAPING UNDERGARMENT? What for? In the first place, does the AhMah need it? To shape her 73 years old tits? or adjust her 73 years old butt? or help her slim down? Come no, the 4 friends and whoever in the company are just people of no ethics. I feel that they are just out to cheat on the AhMah. These are exactly the kind of people that dainted MLM’s reputation.
Just remember, a good friend, a good Multi Leve marketeer will not push you some products that you don’t need to you out of deperation for sales. If they do, avoid them. You have every right to walk out of any seminar if you think it is not benifiting you. Just walk away and let your “friend” learn the lesson and do more homeworks. It is Singapore’s law that, there must be a “30 Days Money Back Guarantee” with any purchase with any legal MLM company in Singapore. In case you sign any contract, if yyou are not comfortable with the purchase and it is still in original package, it is your right to demand your money back. Like this case, if you encounter any difficulty, call in the police and shame the company.

The power of peer pressure.

I have encountered black sheep in MLMs. MLMs that need constant maintenance are silly. Where got so much money?!
The power of peer pressure indeed. Why a 73-year-old needs body shaping under garments, I fail to understand the rationale.

To Jialat,
I know that company. Beside undergarment, they also selling stocking, and bed…
My team mate help them to rent the office there.
To WishBone,
I think beside sole proprietor, all business are in the mode of MLM pyramid, the bottom die for the top.
Btw, don’t put any logic on women, just remember one thing, as long as they have money, they love to look best, no mater how old they are.
