People Concerned That Charged Monk May Escape From Toilet Window
Jul 16, 2008 Fun, Singapore, Stupid Stuffs
The Voracious Mun Yi, head of the Chi Ren Charity Foundation, is out on bail after being arrested and charged with various offences including forgery and misappropriation of funds. But citizens are afraid that he may escape from his toilet window, just like terrorist Mat Alamak, who is still at large.
“You neh see him on TV last time, meh?” said Quah Thean See, a Channel 8 viewer. “In 2003, he abseil down 45 storeys at Suntec, lair! That Mat Alamak only jump a short height! Dun play-play with these monks, man!”
“Yah,” agreed Wu Tang Pai, a monastic martial arts fan. “Monks can also do all sorts of things. You watch movies like ‘The Shaolin Temple’, ‘The 8 Poles of Shaolin’, ‘Ten Brothers of Shaolin’, ‘Buddhas Palm and Dragon Fist’, ‘Enter the 36th Chamber of Shaolin’, and you know what monks are capable of. Police better watch this fler!”
The Police have said they will be assigning a surveillance team to monitor Voracious Ming Yi, and will consider removing toilet paper from his home, to prevent any soft landing should he try to flee from his loo window.
However, Voracious Mun Yi’s lawyer, Phang Sai Chua, protested this as excessive. “I mean, he’s in such deep shit and you want to take away his toilet paper? That’s too much!”
Voracious Mun Yi, whose birth name is Teck Mah Nee, is the second highest profile charity head to be investigated since the National Kelong Foundation CEO T.T. Durian.
“We promise to look into everything,” promised Assistant Superintendent Promi Singh. “The advantage we have with this case is that he doesn’t have the wife of some high-powered politician to claim he’s only paid peanuts.”
However, Voracious Mun Yi’s lawyer Mr. Phang said it is clear his client was remunerated at a reasonable rate. “He’s definitely not paid peanuts, because he’s not a monkey. But it’s clear that he’s paid not much more than peanuts, because he’s a monk.”

I Was Just LOCALISING An Inspirational Idea
Jul 16, 2008 Funny News, Gossips, Singapore, Stupid Stuffs
Producer of NDP 2008 music video, Gloria Chee, said that
she was simply localising an inspirational idea.
And she thinks
it’s a remake of that idea.
The she quoted a famous local copycat movie director as example,
it’s like Jxxx Nxx’s movie is a remake of the Iranian movie “Children of Heaven”.
She added that
her friends, relatives, and the NDP committee also knew that she had adapted the idea from the Japanese ad.
She emphasized that
she didn’t do it with the idea that no one will know. From the production house to her friends and her parents, she never tried to hide the fact that the video is a remake of the Japanese video.
And,
she only gets a honorarium for producing the video.
You can read the news reports by clicking on the following images to enlarge them.

If you don’t know what’s happening, HERE is the details.
Jialat’s thought:
Thank you Gloria. Thanks for teaching me a better, gracious term/replacement of “copycat”. “Localising an inspirational idea”, what a good term! It is even better than the term “recycle of idea”.
But even it is a remake, isn’t it better to have at least a line of credits to give credt to the original creator? I think a line like “Inspired by ad of Japan Children’s Foundation from Japan Ad Council”, or something like that, at the end of the video or on the website, will make people feel much better. Yes, everyone who knows you know that it is a remake. Point is, before this “copycat issue” was blew up, who the hell in the public know who the fxxx “Gloria Chee” is? The committee knew it, but they never informed the public 1st.
Anyway, creativity nowadays is cheap. So students out there, if your teachers accuse you of “copy” your friends’, classmates’ homeworks, just tell your teachers that “you are localising an inspirational idea”.
Jack Neo is not alone.
