Media Block Out On Yishun MRT Incident?

I flipped through Straits Times just now, want to read more about the incident happened at Yishun MRT yesterday afternoon around 12PM. To my surprise, they never cover anything regarding this incident. NOTHING AT ALL. This is strange.

Then I went to Channel News Asia. I was disappointed at the fact that I could find anything there. I checked yesterday’s Wanbao and SinMing cover pager online, it is not about that as well. Not just that, AsiaOne also covered NONE. I checked Yahoo Singapore, also covered nothing about it. There is nothing on Omy.sg as well. Normally, be it suicide or not, this is considered a Dua Daiji in Singapore isn’t it? For the last few incidents, the local press could cover and follow up for a few days. But what about this time?

The only source that I read from a “media” is THIS, and THIS. Other than that, all other information is from local forums, blogs.

I can’t help smelling something fishy. Is it a media block out? If it is, I think it is a very successful one. If I didn’t visit blogs, Ping.sg and forums last night, I didn’t even know that something happened at Yishun MRT.

The sources that I got the info:
Something happened at Yishun MRT is it? - EDMW, the guys there are fast, and resourceful
Yishun MRT this morning - man jumped - Sammyboy
A eye witness’ blog - I suggest you guys copy her words out and paste them on notepad to read. There are just so freaking small to read!
Another eye witness’ input - In Mandarin

Will this post get myself into trouble?

Edited: another eye witness’ blog entry, very detailed. He too has the same question as I have.

recession last for few months only, there was a 1970s fuel crisis.

    1987 black monday
    1997 crisis
    and now 2008 crisis.

    its just a cycle.

the govt won’t want people to find out about how easy to commit suicide i guess, but this incident may not be suicide.

it could be just someone sick and stood way too near, and accidentally fell in.

    yeah

see blog, i did a short post about it

For the longest time, our state media is forever in the “nation building” mode. Remember “mee siam mai hum”, “fix & buy”.

Whatever, you expect “no more” from them.

Just maybe, your post may trigger a small print somewhere in the news soon.

He’s not dead obviously. If the news report on every injury in singapore then by god this country will be a busy one.

if he’s dead. he’ll definitely be smeared all over the papers. my friend, you and the conspiracy theorist sure have some prominent points in common ;)

    hey,

the reason why the media did not report about it is cos there were previous incidents where they were reported such suicide deaths and the public donated generously to the deceased’s family. Then there were some reports where this generosity was being abused by some families because they got a lot of media attention. hence, now, they don’t report it to prevent such accusations/future incidents from happening.

well, this is as far as i know. :)

Last check, there is update on AsiaOne now:
    http://news.asiaone.com/News/the%2BStraits%2BTimes/Story/A1Story20081012-93226.html
The guy is dead, though not on the spot.

I don’t think a “guy jogging on mrt track incident” is more “report-worthy” than a mrt suicide/accident incident. if that jogging incident could fetch so much attention, why not this one?

If it is due to the donation issues last time, then it has been overdone, in my POV.

Got so many news to print must print about a suicide/jump meh?
Pple nowadays more concerned about the financial situation, who wants to read about someone jumping. There WILL always be pple jumping in front of the train. I honestly think the gahmen has better things to do than to keep tabs on you. YOu think this is m’sia ar?

Then the jogging on mrt track incident must be so freaking important or interesting? Or the death of the Chinese Getai artist Mr Lim must be so attractive?

Malaysia government is too useless to do so.
