Mayor Of Batman Suing Christopher Nolan

Now only I know that there is actually a city in Turkey called Batman. The Mayor of Batman is suing Christopher Nolan, the director of the successful blockbuster this summer, The Dark Knight.
The Mayor of Batman, an ancient oil-producing city in southeastern Turkey, is hoping to receive royalties if he is successful in suing the director of The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan.
Hüseyin Kalkan, the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party mayor of the city, claims that American producers took the name of his city without telling him or his people.
Former residents of the city of Batman also claim that Hollywood executives have banned them from using the name of their home town when setting up businesses abroad.
Actually, I am puzzled. Why are they going after Christopher Nolan, but not company created the comic character, DC Comics?
