Malaysia Bans Yoga For Muslim

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 22 (Bernama) — The National Fatwa Council has ruled that yoga is ‘haram” for Muslims.
Its chairman, Datuk Dr Abdul Shukor Husin said only the physical aspect of yoga without the mantras and elements of worshipping outwardly was not wrong (in Islam).
However, he said, yoga was not to be encouraged among Muslims for fear that it could erode their Islamic faith since the physical part was a component of yoga practice as a whole.
He said there were three stages to yoga practice, which originated from the Hindus, — first, the physical aspect which is the exercise part; second the mantras and worshipping and third the unification of oneself with God.
“Therefore, members of the council reached a consensus that any practice, regardless of type and in whatever form that have such elements, contradict Islamic teachings,” he told a press conference here.

Ya, they claimed that it’s not halal to practice yoga. But I believe practicing yoga doesn’t means you have to believe in Hindu.
No alcohol, no gambling, and now, no yoga.
Holyshit… now the umno guys already gone mad to ban YOGA.Im a muslim but i dont think to pratice yoga will effect our prayers.But i think the fucking UMNO and the national fatwa council is too fucking mad and they have too much freetime.Please use your fucking time to tackle others more serious problem exp..MATREMPIT.
Dey Samsul. Pas’ muftis are also part of the council lah. The Haram fatwa is on the FULL yoga with chants and prayers. On the modern yoga the council did not ban, merely discourages. But the creed is not unique to Malaysia lah. You think the Fatwa council make fatwas based on your “opinion” alone? Go study your religion lah, before opening your mouth.
All in all regardless of religion, only one word to describe it…

Elsie, What’s so stupid in putting a guideline that if you are of one religion, you should not perform the prayers of another religion? Does this mean that Jesus Christ is also stupid when he asked his disciples not to perform idol worshiping? Think, elsie. Think.
Actually, if you look more carefully this is a perfect proof that Malaysians are getting more intolerant towards Islam, and not the other way around. Can’t we all just respect our differences?
