STOMPer shy boy feels it is unfair that MediaCorp actress Cai Peixuan has been considered ineligible for the Best Newcomer Award nomination in this year’s Star Awards. The actress is known for her role as ‘Rou Gu Mei’ in Channel 8 drama ‘The Golden Path’.

The STOMPer says:

“News are telling us that Cai Peixuan is ineligible for a nomination for Best Newcomer Award in the upcoming local Star Awards 2009.

“It seems to be a unfair decision made by MediaCorp.

“If more than two years of experience means you cannot qualify for a Best Newcomer nomination, then what about all these actresses?

“Fann Wong was a former child star, so why did she get nominated, and eventually win Newcomer at Star Awards 95?

“James Lye was on Channel 5 since 1994, and why did he get nominated and win Newcomer at Star Awards 97?

“Dasmond Koh has experience at Yes 93.3, so why did he get nominated and win Newcomer at Star Awards 2000?

“How come Yes 93.3 DJs like Tan Liyi and Mary Bukoh (plus now 100.3 DJ Lin Lingzhi) can get nominated when they have more than two years of experience?

“Jeanette Aw started TV back in Mediaworks for some time before joining MediaCorp. Why can she get nominated and win Newcomer at Star Awards 2002?

“Joanne Peh acted as a third party in Beautiful Connection in 2002, so how can she get nominated and win Newcomer at Star Awards 2004?

“Elvin Ng acted in the NKF drama in 2005 and Love Concierge (early 2006) but why can he get nominated Newcomer because of Love At Zero Degrees in 2006?

“Pornsak has prior experience as 100.3 DJ and why can he get nominated and win Newcomer at Star Awards 2007?

“Fiona Xie had prior acting experience in Growing Up but why can she get nominated and win Newcomer at Star Awards 2001?

“Ng Hwee had prior acting experience with Lydia Sum in Living With Lydia but why could she get a Newcomer nomination at Star Awards 2005?

“Ruien had prior acting experience on Channel 5 and 8 in 2002-3, so why could she earn a Newcomer nomination at Star Awards 2004?

“How come Diana Ser, Lisa Ang, Guo Liang and Wendy Tseng all qualified for Newcomer nominations at Star Awards 97 when they already started showbiz way before 1997?”
