Human Sperms Created In Laboratory
No, this can’t be real. I feel we male become more and more insignificant to the world……
News of the creation of human sperm from stem cells is exciting, but men will not be redundant just yet, says Roger Highfield
Here we go again. “The end of men?” shrieked one tabloid. “Human life created from a skin cell” hollered another. We heard it all more than a decade ago, when Sir Ian Wilmut and his team unveiled Dolly the sheep, suggesting that, with the help of a womb, it should be possible to clone a person from an adult cell.
Now human sperm have been created for the first time, using stem cells taken from a five-day-old embryo, a feat reported by Professor Karim Nayernia at Newcastle University and the North East England Stem Cell Institute, working with a scientist who may well have cloned a human embryo too, Miodrag Stojkovic, now based in Spain.
