The Metropolitan Police Department obtained an arrest warrant Friday for missing actress Noriko Sakai on charges of stimulant possession, investigators said.
Sakai, 38, went missing after her 41-year-old husband Yuichi Takaso was arrested Monday for possessing stimulants in violation of the Stimulants Control Law. A relative filed a search request with police for her the following day.
Police sought Sakai’s arrest warrant after they found a small amount of stimulants during a search of her residence in Tokyo’s Minato Ward, according to investigators.
Police said they confirmed signals from Sakai’s cell phone in Yamanashi Prefecture on Tuesday afternoon; however, her mobile phone has been turned off since then.
The president of Sun Music, Sakai’s management office, asked the actress to contact him immediately during a press conference on Tuesday.
Sakai’s 10-year-old son, who went missing together with the actress, was found safe in Tokyo on Thursday evening. He had been staying with Sakai’s acquaintance, who had been asked by Sakai to take care of the boy.
