It’s Ramadan, So Please Don’t Punish Me For Stealing Undies

What a creative excuse people can think of to save their asses.

A sales assistant who stole undergarments and other items of clothing pleaded to a magistrate to allow her to “turn over a new leaf” in the spirit of the fasting month of Ramadan.

Norjuana Anuar, 21, said she had committed the theft because of the influence of her friends.

“Please give me a chance to improve,” Norjuana, who was clad in a body-fitting black T-shirt and blue jeans, said on Thursday.

Norjuana, who was then attached to Jaya Jusco Taman Maluri, said she was remorseful over her actions and asked the magistrate to release her on a good behaviour bond, adding that her sister was present in court to be her bailor.

“In light of the fasting month and upcoming Raya celebration, please give me a chance. Please do not impose a deterrent sentence which would separate me from my family and deny their love during this special month,” she said.

Norjuana asked the court to consider that she had surrendered the undergarments and other items to the police and that she did not get any gain over her actions.

She admitted to stealing a pair of panties, six brassieres, three pyjamas, a long dress and a shirt worth a total of RM430.90 from the Jaya Jusco hypermarket in Taman Maluri in Cheras here at about 10pm on Aug 18.
