I don’t about how true the others are, but the 1st one is very very true……
1. Chewing gum was banned in Singapore in 1992 when chewed gum pieces resulted in malfunctions of the sliding doors of the city’s metro trains.
2. One can easily hunt a polar bear in Alaska, but it is forbidden to wake the predator up for a photo
3. Women living in Arkansas need to struggle for their rights. Husbands are legally allowed to beat their wives there, albeit only once a month
4. Visiting a churce in Main requires taking a gun along. Local residents can attack you any minute
5. Cutting a cactus in Arizona entails an imprisonment for 25 years
6. In Iowa, a kiss must not last longer than five minutes
7. Ohio women are not allowed to wear lacquered shoes – the shoes may reflect women’s underwear
8. Taking a shower naked is considered unlawful in Florida
9. Flushing toilet in Switzerland is forbidden after 10 p.m. not to trouble neighbors.

I dont think banning chewing gum is stupid. In fact, I think it is one of the best moves as many potential problems had been prevented. Imagine public transport being crippled due to a stupid guy who does something with a chewed gum. How abt the cost of cleaning them day after day? If chewing gum does not exist, no one cares. But its use and misuse had caused much inconvenience to us humans. So it is only logical to ban it.
Allan Tan, you deserved to be replaced by a smarter foreigner, you have been brainwashed beyond hope. Why is the chewing gum menace only an issue in your country when it’s fine with the rest of the world?
Just bcos I don’t see eye to eye with you does not warrant you to make stupid remarks. Every country has its own priorities, so there is no need to compare. If you dont like it in any country, just get out and go where you want, right? So if a govt would rather spend millions of dollars cleaning up chewed gum, so be it. I am not brainwashed, I am simply enjoying a clean environment in singapore. Only small brains that cannot think far, like yours more likely, cannot see benefits.
