In fact, I think it is one of the best moves as many potential problems had been prevented. Imagine public transport being crippled due to a stupid guy who does something with a chewed gum. How abt the cost of cleaning them day after day? If chewing gum does not exist, no one cares. But its use and misuse had caused much inconvenience to us humans. So it is only logical to ban it.
