I pity the children. Their mother becomes their step grandmother, their grandfather becomes their step father. So they themselves become their late father’s step siblings……

The daily also reported about a woman who had illegally married her father-in-law in a neighbouring country after the death of her husband and had sex with him twice before being discovered by Sik religious officers.

The religious authority arrested the 40-year-old woman and her 63-year-old father-in-law following a tip off from the villagers on Tuesday.

The woman, who wanted to be known only as Nita, said she was determined to marry her father-in-law to avoid public ridicule as he always visited her and her five children, aged between five and 20.

She claimed that she had consulted a religious expert, who informed her that there was no ties between her and her father-in-law after the death of her husband.

Her father-in-law, who is known as Pak San, said he never thought of marrying his daughter-in-law but merely followed her request.

Kedah Mufti Datuk Muhammad Baderuddin Ahmad said the marriage between father and daughter-in-law was illegal and if they had sexual intercourse, it would be regarded as committing zina (adultery).

He said ties between father and daughter-in-law would remain even though his son had died.
