She Strips For The Army
A group of UK army wives have decided to strip and raise fund for 2 organizations which help army who return from war. They made a artistic nude calendar. They have a website called Garrison Girls.
Why Garrison Girls
Army wife and the girl behind the calendar, Sarah Bennett Thurston, explains:‘Both Combat Stress and Help for Heroes play an incredibly important role in providing our troops with vital care and support. We all dread that one day our families might need their help, so it’s reassuring to know they are there. But it’s important to us that we aren’t just the recipients - which is why we are doing what we can to raise funds.’
The calendar has a mainly army theme but it also pays tribute to the other services, as one of the girls is married to an RAF serviceman and one of the photos has a naval theme. All of the girls have been affected either directly or indirectly by operations in Iraq and Afghanistan so there was no problem with getting volunteers.
Sarah also said
‘The military theme was an obvious and fun thing to do, but the style of the photos had to be different which is why I approached Mick Payton. I thought if anyone could help produce an eye-catching and glamorous calendar using ordinary wives and mothers, he could!’.
The name Garrison Girls was cooked up in a meeting with Soldier Magazine back in May. Everyone is too modest to own up to whose idea it actually was!
