Annoying Creditcard Sellers
Dec 16, 2008 Ranting, Singapore, Stupid Stuffs
Yesterday lunch time, colleague and I went to an indoor foodcourt nearby my office. We were a bit late, so the lunch hour crowd was actually over.
I went for my favourite yong taufu while colleague bought economic rice. He got his food earlier than me, so he just grabbed a seat at one of the many empty tables.
When I was done and bringing my food over to the table, I saw someone, in rather smart attire, was actually sitting in front of my colleague. I thought that guy was a friend of my colleague. Only when I reached the table, then I realized that the guy was making sales pitch to my colleague, to sell Stxxxxxx Chaxxxxxx creditcard. I could sense that he enjoyed his sales pitch a lot. He was so enjoyed that he could not feel the unwillingness from my colleague’s eyes, and his voice. After talking all the benefits, it came the main point. The guy said my colleague could just register there and then 1st. Yeah, he sounded like we, or at least my colleague, Tang, was so desperate to own his card that Tang would actually sign it there and then. Come on, we were just there for LUNCH.
After a few “Nos” from Tang, the guy retreated, left our table. But, that was not the end. When we were having our food, the other salespersons kept coming over to our table. And, their first sentence was always “I’m not selling anything”. Hey look, use your brain, my yong taufu was in my mouth, while Tang was chewing his luncheon meat, you think we would fuck care you? Why chose such stupid timing to approach people? And yet keep telling people that “I’m not selling anything”. Yeah right, you are not, you are just asking people to sign up, register for a creditcard. I even heard the lady sitting beside us (who was with her boyfriend I suppose) told one of the salesguy that he was the 4th one (approaching them).
Maybe, today, if i go over there for lunch again, I shall bring along a piece of paper written “I don’t need creditcard” on it. Or I should just make it “Fuck off!”, easier for me.
Of cause, I suppose the situation would be different, if those who approached us were SYT. Though, just slightly.

TaiGor No More
Dec 14, 2008 Ranting
I just came back from Bangkok 2 days ago. I am not going to write about how my trip was because I doubt anyone would be interested.
I went on 9th Dec. Despite all the rumours, protests, negative news reports on TV, Bangkok is surprisingly peaceful, and normal, relaxed. To the people there, life goes on. What affected most should be their tourism industry.
By the way, why I went there? I should say, I have no choice. Tickets had been booked 3 months back during the TaiGor Airway promotion, kind of cheap compared to premium airlines. Yes, I am being cheapo to choose TaiGor Airway, because this was my 1st time with them and I did not know the service is so cheapo until things happened.
Honestly, the protests in Bangkok was never my concern, until they went on to take over their international airport, and hundreds of thousands of tourists were stuck. During that few days, flights were cancelled. I started to worry. My concern was not about safety, but trip delay, being stuck there like many of the others. So girlfriend and I started to call the VERY HOT HOTLINE of TaiGor Airway. We wanted to hear the voice of their very helpful customer service officers. We wanted to check if we could delay or trip, or cancel or trip and get full refund. For more than 3 days, we tried in the morning, in the early afternoon, late afternoon, in the evening. We tried as early as 9am when they start operation, until 9pm when they close operation. Amazingly, we were totally not able to talk to any real human on the line. We either got “line busy” response, or our calls would ring until being auto rejected, and we were even being hold for more than 1 and a half hours, just no one bother to answer our call.
Are they being too budget with their call centre operation, though they are budget airline?
From the day the airport was closed, until the day it was open for commercial flight again, we speak to no one from TaiGor. What’s best is there are no other form of communications to reach them, other than their HOTLINE, or fax. No emails available, nothing. I only received an email, after the airport was open again, telling me that my flights were AS SCHEDULED, and stating that only those passengers of cancelled flights can change the date, destination for free or request for full refund. But, what about people like me whose flights were not affected YET but was concerned about the situation in Bangkok, who may choose to delay the trip or change destination? There was no information, no way to check as well. I am surprised that, being a subsidiary company of the top airlines in the world, TaiGor is so insensitive regarding this issue.
We finally decided to carry on with our trip, after we personally went down to Budget Terminal, TaiGor Airways service counter, talked to the REAL HUMAN there. Thanks to the Malay lady who checked and told us that we had to top up close to SGD200 to change our date to our desired period. No point changing it, in our point of view.
TaiGor again? Sorry, no more. Air Asia or JetStar anytime for me.

(Guys at Ping.sg, please PONG me to the top. I have a fxcking cash-out story with this lousy company to tell everyone.) Advertlets, Josh, where are my cheques??? Where is my cash-out? Where is your promise? That is March and May cash-out for God sake. It is a fxcking 6 months period.
First I never received anything for my March cash-out, so I wrote this “It’s Been 4 Months, Where Is My Advertlets Cheque?“. Then finally, there was response. It is a series of emails communication and we agreed on an arrangement. I am going to post all the emails between that lousy company and me. (Click to enlarge)
Hi XXXXX,
We previously sent an e-mail in April with a few questions regarding your site statistics. Did you receive it?
Regards,
Advertlets Support
No, I did not receive any email regarding your request. Maybe you want to send again.
Thanks.XXXXX
Please see the below:
This is the mail:
Hi XXXXX,
Firstly, let us say that we appreciate your posts, comments and support of Advertlets so far. We also note that you are one of the higher traffic bloggers in our network, and we value your contribution.
As payment from advertisers from Singapore take much significantly longer time to clear in Malaysia (due to need of physical invoicing and bank procedures), we would like to have your assistance in the following:
To have your March 2008 Cashout split into three payments, which will be sent to you over the period of 3 months. Future cashouts should not be an issue.
We apologize and appreciate your consideration. Apologies for the delay, but we feel this is the best decision in the interests as a growing startup and for our publishers to receive payment (although split) as soon as possible. In addition, we would like to explore the possibility of arranging a fixed monthly fee due to your high traffic.
We would appreciate your confidentiality in this matter to protect both our interests. Thank you. Please let us know if this is a suitable arrangement that you can agree to.
Regards,
Advertlets Support
After I saw this mail I just laughed. If you have really ever sent me such mail, you will FORWARD the one you have previously sent, but not COPY n PASTE into a new email. Anyway, I just want my money! Future cashouts should not be an issue? My foot, you can’t even pay me NOW!

Hi,
Seems like I can’t say No right?
Do let me know how you will split the among. But I will suggest that, since you will have to drag it into 3 parts, why don’t lum my 2nd cash-out together?
Seriously, I hope you guys can improve on your customers/publishers service, relationship management. I don;t expect top notch service, but the level that I received is not tolerable to me. As long as Advertlets pays good (no drag of course), I will stay.
As for the fixed monthly amount, we can talk about it.
Thanks.XXXXX
Hi XXXXX,
Okay, we will put your 2nd cash out together with the first:
RMxxxx = SGDxxx
SGD xxx divided by 3 = SGDxxx per cheque
You will receive your first cheque within 5 -10 days from today, and the next one at the end of July, and the final one in August from your March & May combined totals.
We will endeavor to improve further, please do keep us updated on your feedback.
Regards,
Advertlets Support
I received the 1st cheque sometime around mid July. Nothing else after that
OK
Hi,
I have not received the 2nd part of payment which has been agreed. It was said end of July and now is coming to mid Aug.
Thanks.XXXXX
7th August, I emailed again to ask about my cheque that was due end of July. Reply only came 4 days later.

Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for letting us know. You should receive both cheques within this month.
Regards,
Advertlets Support
I got this mail on 11th August. Within this month? My foot! Today is 23rd Sept and where is my cheque? I think it is not even issued yet. I have wanted to post early this month, but was thinking that maybe POS Malaysia is so freaking lousy that it takes them 2 weeks to deliver a mail to Singapore. And now what? This is coming to END OF SEPTEMBER! Where is my cheque?
To all readers of Jialat dotCom, all visitors who reach through search engine,s who are referred from other sites such as Ping.sg, forget about earning with this lousy company. If you just signed up, just drop it. Do a search in Google, you can see many people complaining on their payments. They just suck.
I WANT MY MONEY! Do not tell me what problems you have, how difficult it is to clear customers payment or to run a startup. I am not interested to know. I have given enough time, patience and chance and I am fxcking fed up right now. You have problems, solve them, don’t tell me.
I have made another cash-out end of Aug. I expect the cheque to reach me on time and I seriously appreciate it. No more business with Advertlets.
A tip for all blogger with Advertlets: if one fine day you find your blog loading freaking slow, try taking down Advertlets ads. More than a dozen times, that solves my problems.

Maternity Leave Unfair To Bosses And Colleagues
Aug 21, 2008 Life, Ranting, Singapore
In this “political right” society, very few people dare to tell their true/real feeling regarding government policies, openly. It is politically right to think that the increase maternity leave and incentives will help and encourage more couples to have babies. But, what do business owners, management people and the colleagues think?
I applaud Ms Laura Ng Lai Sun for telling her us what she thinks in MyPaper. I do agree to what she said in the article. What do you think if you are having colleagues who are pregnant? Do you feel it is fair to you? I think the maternity leave, incentives are just secondary. The main reason for low birth rate is the cost and responsibility involved. Having kids is not just a 1 year, 2 years “activity”. It is a life long commitment. What for having 4 months maternity leave but after that the parents maybe will suffer/struggle for maybe 10, 20 years? This is the part that is frightening.
Anyway, someone ever recommend to me that teaching is the most “pro pregnancy” job around. After finding out more details from my teacher friends, I have to agree with this. So, people, why don’t join the teaching line?
$100 Wedding Angpow Not Enough Anymore……
Aug 15, 2008 Gossips, Life, Ranting, Singapore, Stupid Stuffs
There is an article from MyPaper today talking about the inflation has caused local wedding gift to increase as well.

Thank god that for a long time I haven’t been attending any wedding in Singapore. I had a few in Malaysia, and I gave Malaysian rate of cause, keke.
But this is seriously a sign of jialat-ness of life in Singapore man. Think about it, just a dinner, OK a wedding dinner, and $100 gone. That is ridicurious. I can enjoy very good, delicious durians at Geylang, or very good seafoods at some famous seafood restaurants (of cause 1 person lah). Seriously, I feel that I am a little bit anti-social, so I don’t really like attending wedding dinner/lunch/buffet, whatever it is. It is still OK if the couples are my long time friends and I have a whole group of friends attending. But sometimes, I hardly know that couple or we haven’t been contacting each others for a long long time, Then 1 day, the pink bomb is at my door step. This is crap……
By the way, I find “going overseas” is a very good excuse to avoid wedding dinner……
Do you attend wedding dinner often? What is your excuse to avoid then?
