Stupid or careless?
An armed 23 year old policeman in Moscow fell victim of his own carelessness. He decided to scratch an itchy spot on his nose with a gun and accidentally killed himself, the Moskovsky Komsomolets reports.
The tragedy happened in the court security facility. At 6pm the officer’s supervisor tried to connect with him over the phone to check on him. The sergeant did not answer his phone and the supervisor had to go see him with other officers.
The police found a locked door they had to break and the body of their colleague behind the door. The policeman’s body with a wound in the head was found under the desk.
The investigation ruled out a murder. There was no note that would indicate suicide.
The victim had been serving in police since 2007. He was single and was not registered with the staff psychologist. He was reported to be in good spirits on the day of the accident.
The sergeant allegedly scratched his nose with his gun and accidentally pulled the trigger.

A 73-year-old woman of Niiza, Saitama Prefecture, became the oldest Japanese to ever finish the 250km Marathon des Sables in the Sahara earlier this month.
In finishing the ultramarathon, Noriko Iida beat her performance in the same race last year.
After running the gruelling race for seven days beginning on April 4, Iida is already training for her new goal of breaking the world record as the oldest woman to complete the race, now held by a Frenchwoman who was 75 when she ran the race.
The course for the race is located in the southern part of Morocco. During the race, participants have to carry their own baggage, including a sleeping bag, food and camping gear. The temperature in the desert during the race is around 40 degrees Celsius.
Though Iida dropped out of the race on her first try two years ago, she entered and completed the race last year.

Pearl Carter and Phil Bailey, 26, have paid a surrogate mother £20,000 to have Mr Bailey’s child, which the couple plan to bring up together.
Mrs Carter, from Indiana, met Mr Bailey four years ago after he tracked her down following the death of his mother, Lynette.
Mrs Carter fell pregnant with Lynette at 18, out of wedlock, and claims that she was forced to give her child up for adoption by her strict Catholic parents.
She went on to marry, but never had any more children.
The couple, who claim to be abused in public and could face prison for incest, say that they fell in love and became lovers soon after meeting.

France’s justice minister has called for legal action to be taken against a man who was photographed wiping his bottom with the French flag.
Michele Alliot-Marie said it was unacceptable for the tricolour to be insulted in this way, and called for those responsible to be prosecuted.
Her response came after the photograph was displayed in a competition run by the media retailer, FNAC.
The image won a special mention in the “politically incorrect” category.
Taken on the street, the photograph shows a man seen from behind: his trousers are around his ankles and he is apparently wiping his bottom with a French flag.
