For those men wondering why do their partners take so long to come out of the bathroom, it must be no secret they’re making themselves pretty. A new survey shows a woman spends 5 days a year doing precisely that.

Cosmetic giant QVC Beauty conducted a survey among its female customers (1,000 of them) to see how much time the allot daily for their beauty routine and how much beauty product they use.

The results were surprising to say the least, as the Daily Mail also points out, since the average British woman spends 5 whole days in front of the mirror each year.

“Between them, British women use enough lipstick each day to draw a line from London to New York, on top of 880 gallons (4,000 liters) of foundation and more than 16million sweeps of the mascara wand,” the Mail says of the same survey.

Women were also queried about how much makeup they use and on what occasion, with an estimated 40 percent of them saying they wouldn’t even consider leaving the house without it, let alone actually do it.

A smaller fraction, just 19 percent of respondents, said they would rather operate cuts on the budget for food than think about not buying a beauty product they want / need.

On the same note, one in four women said they considered cosmetic products an essential and not a luxury, wherefrom the refusal to slash the beauty budget.

“Women spend an average of £653.64 a year on beauty products, more than £43,000 in a lifetime, and 53 per cent say that the recession has had little or no impact on their purchasing patterns,” the Mail says of the findings of the survey.

“Londoners are most likely to splash out, spending more than £955 on average, while those in the North West spend the least, £567. The total annual outlay is £16 billion,” the publication further informs.

As Kate James, head of buying for QVC Beauty, puts it, cosmetic products will never lose their appeal with women because they make them feel good by making them prettier.

“With more disposable income, modern women are savvier beauty shoppers than ever, getting the best prices from their products and learning the best ways to use them before anything even touches their skin,” James adds.

Prostitutes working on the street outside a town northern Spain have been ordered to wear reflective vests to make them visible to passing traffic and reduce the risk of accidents.

Women touting for customers on a rural highway outside Els Alamus near Lleida in Catalonia have been told to don the yellow fluorescent bibs or pay fines of 40 euros (£36) under road traffic laws.

Police claim the sex workers on the LL-11 road are not being specifically targeted because of what they do but because they posed a danger to drivers.
The prostitutes are in breach of 2004 law which states pedestrians on major highways and hard shoulders must wear the high visibility garments.

Never offend ladies.

A glamorous blonde television news anchorwoman has been accused of hatching a plot to have her former boss murdered.

Media mogul Andis Hadjicostis, 42, was shot dead outside his home in Nicosia on January 11 by a masked gunman who escaped on a motorbike.

Hadjicostis was the owner of Dias, the largest media group in Cyprus.

Elena Skordelli, 43, who has been charged over the killing, had worked at Dias as a news anchor and chat show host before being fired.

In a further twist, she is believed to have planned to take over Hadjicostis media empire – offering his killers jobs for life at the television station.

Skordelli’s family own a 20% share in one of Dias’ popular TV stations, Sigma.

The anchorwoman, her brother and another man are accused of plotting and carrying out the murder.

They all deny the charges against them.

The trial, due to start today, has been delayed for a few days as one of the defendants is in hospital.

Police are still hunting the gunman who they suspect may have fled the island.

A police investigation has been launched after a nurse at Broadmoor quit over allegations she had sexual relationships with TWO dangerous inmates.

One of the patients at the high-security hospital is HIV-positive double-child rapist James Saunders, known as The Wolfman.

The other patient was also under the care of the blonde nurse in Broadmoor’s Kempton Ward.

A hospital source told the News Of The World: ‘The nurse and Saunders regularly met in the laundry room for sex.

‘The other patient complained when he found out she was having sex with someone who was HIV-positive at the same time as him.’

According to the newspaper, bosses found intimate love letters she had written and escorted her from the premises. A ward manager has also been suspended.

Saunders, 42, who was detained for life for raping two girls aged 11 and 15 in 1985, twice broke out of Broadmoor in the early Nineties.

He was dubbed the Wolfman after living in the wild for three weeks while on the run.

A Broadmoor spokesman said: ‘We can confirm a staff member was suspended and then resigned following serious allegations.’

An erotic exercise video showing a Playboy Playmate performing yoga moves while nude has outraged Hindu leaders.

Sara Jean Underwood, a 2007 Playmate of the Year winner, has released a video through Playboy that shows the model pulling yoga moves in the buff.

“Sara Jean Underwood wants you to gain an intimate understanding of her asanas, the various postures and positions practiced in yoga,” the video’s promotional material says.

“The next best thing to doing so in person is watching these sexy nude videos that are designed to raise your heart rate.”

Hindu elders are outraged over what they say is an attempt to cash-in on an “age old and revered system of yoga” and have asked the company to withdraw the video.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed said yoga was one of the six systems of orthodox Hindu philosophy and was highly revered in Hinduism.

“It is a serious mental and physical discipline,” he said. “For plain mercantile greed, Playboy should not attempt to distort the esteemed yoga tradition as it would hurt the devotees.”

The Playboy website says yoga is a “great place for meeting girls”.

Playboy is also marketing a nude Tai Chi video, which sells for US$14.98.

Rebecca Battino is suing Apple for up to £650,000 after a string of sexy self-portraits she took ended up in an iPhone app without her permission.

Rebecca Battino’s snaps, taken when she was 16, have been viewed by millions after they were used in the eXtreme Cam Girls application.

They include a racy photo of Miss Battino in a plunging black swimsuit that does little to hide her breasts.

In others, the aspiring New York model is sporting lace knickers or thongs. App-maker Samba Studios claims to have to have ‘hundreds’ of photos and videos of ‘real girls’.

Miss Battino, now 19, took the pictures of herself in the mirror with a digital camera and claims the images were hacked from her computer.

She is suing Apple and Samba Studios for a minimum of $1million (£650,000) plus damages for copyright infringement in a Manhattan court.

Legal papers accuse Apple of ‘brazenly’ using the swimsuit shot as the only icon advertising the eXtreme Cam Girls app on iPhone.

Miss Battino, a yoga teacher, said she was not ashamed of the images.

‘I was just upset that I’m not being paid for my pictures,

’ she added.

Sick man.

A Long Island, NY man has been charged with sexual misconduct, attempted sexual misconduct and burglary after he allegedly broke into his tenants’ apartment to sexually assault their two-year-old Shiba Inu named Snowball.

Mitchell Marsicano, 55, was arrested Friday morning and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of burglary and one year for misdemeanor sexual misconduct. NBC news reports that on two occasions in October, Marsicano reportedly broke into the upstairs apartment of the house that he owned to have sex with the 23-pound dog.

Marsicano used to own the dog but gave it to his tenants, who contacted authorities after reportedly walking in on Marsicano sexually abusing the dog in their own apartment.

Snowball underwent an exam for trauma and veterinarians said he suffered injuries to his legs, which are consistent with being restrained. The dog was also nervous when the vets touched his hind legs. Snowball is being taken care of in an animal shelter.

Marsicano is due back in court on Oct. 27.
